QA Engineer

Test Planning & Execution

• Build and own test plans, test cases and test scenarios for assigned products.

• Execute functional, regression, API, UI and end-to-end testing across web, mobile and backend.

• Manage bugs end-to-end: clear repro steps, severity assessment, environment details, evidence (logs, screenshots, network traces).

• Provide test estimates during sprint planning; report test coverage and bug status daily.

Shift-Left Quality

• Engage at refinement, not at release. Contribute test ideas during story refinement, challenge acceptance criteria with BA/PO, document assumptions and risks before code is written.

• Define BDD-style scenarios (Given/When/Then) so devs and QC share a single understanding of "done".

• Pair with developers on testability — contract tests, mocks, feature flags, test data management.

• Influence definition-of-ready and definition-of-done; keep the bug-leakage rate low by catching issues early.

Test Automation in CI/CD

• Build and maintain automated tests integrated into GitHub Actions and Jenkins pipelines: API tests, UI tests, smoke tests on every PR, full regression nightly.

• Choose the right tool for the job — Playwright / Cypress for UI, Postman/ or REST Assured for API, JMeter / k6 for performance, Pact for contract testing.

• Keep the test pyramid healthy: lots of fast unit and contract tests, fewer integration tests, even fewer slow E2E tests.

• Tackle test flakiness as a first-class problem; tune parallelism, isolation and reporting.

• Enforce coverage thresholds and quality gates inside the pipeline (SonarQube + custom).

Release Readiness

• Run sanity / smoke / regression on release candidates; sign off on production releases together with the Engineering Lead.

• Maintain a clear release checklist; verify rollback paths actually work.

• Validate non-functional requirements: performance, security touchpoints, observability hooks.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work with Dev, PO, BA, DevOps, Security and Architect on quality across the SDLC.

• Mentor junior QCs through pair-testing, review sessions and structured feedback.

• Contribute to and evolve the central QA guidelines and shared test pipeline templates maintained by the QA function.

• Run process-improvement experiments — measure defect leakage, lead time, flakiness — and share results.

• 3+ years of QC / QA experience on web, mobile or backend products.

• Strong functional, regression, API, UI and E2E testing fundamentals; comfortable with risk-based testing, equivalence partitioning, boundary analysis and exploratory testing.

• Hands-on test automation with at least one of Playwright / Cypress / Selenium for UI and Postman or REST Assured for API.

• Comfortable in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or Jenkins) — triggering automation, reporting, handling flakies.

• Solid scripting in JavaScript/TypeScript or Python or Java — enough to build and maintain test code, not just consume frameworks.

• Bug investigation toolkit — browser DevTools, adb, Postman, basic SQL, log analysis.

• Strong written and spoken English; comfortable raising risks and disagreements with BA/PO/Dev professionally.

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and Jira-based workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with performance testing (JMeter / k6 / Locust) and reporting.

• Experience with security testing basics (OWASP Top 10, SAST/DAST workflows, Snyk).

• Exposure to Swiss/EU financial regulations (FINMA, GDPR, eIDAS) and audit-grade test evidence.

• ISTQB Foundation / Advanced certifications.

• Open-source contributions to test frameworks or public talks on quality.
